Legislative Session Ends, Campaign Begins!

As the legislative session ends, the inevitable campaign season begins. It has been my privilege to serve the citizens of NH Senate District 12…Brookline, Hollis, Mason, and Wards 1, 2, 5, and 9 in Nashua for the past two years. I am running for re-election to continue bringing my business and leadership experience, my voice of reason and problem solving abilities to our government

This has been an historic and difficult legislative session. Yet, in the worst economy since the 1930’s, we have continued to move NH forward. We passed initiatives to help small business, created jobs in the green economy, and made quality health care more accessible and affordable. I was proud to sponsor a Hospice Benefit under Medicaid for NH (making us the 49th state to enact this), and to co-sponsor bills which increase access to dental care for children, allow small business groups to join together to create purchasing alliances for health insurance, and create wellness programs to lower the overall cost of insurance.

Even in these difficult times we have passed a responsible state budget and kept a focus on our future: this September, for the first time in our state’s history, every 5 year old in New Hampshire was able to attend public kindergarten. And, we have honored New Hampshire’s long tradition of ensuring individual liberties when we passed legislation that granted marriage equality to all of New Hampshire’s couples.

NH has maintained an unemployment rate nearly 40% lower than the national average. But, it is still unacceptable to have nearly 44,000 of our citizens without a job. I was a proud co-sponsor of NH Working, a three part plan promoted by Governor Lynch to keep our citizens in their jobs, and push to get those who are unemployed back on the payroll.

Our great state has been ranked the safest state in the country three years in a row.
Kids Count named it the best place to raise a child, and MH is ranked one of the most livable and healthiest states in the nation.

Please help me continue to keep NH strong. Contribute, volunteer, host a house party, tell a friend….click on the tabs above. Most of all, I ask that you cast your vote for me in November.

Thank you, and please let me hear from you about those issues most important to you.  As always, please contact me with questions, or concerns, and thoughts about necessary legislation. 603 271 3569 (office) 603 465 2336 (home) Peggy.Gilmour@leg.state.nh.us.
